It is the acronym of Art, Labor and Territory. It is a declaration of intents as well as an invitation to stop for a while in the spaces of the new Italian center of contemporary art to reflect on art and look at the future together.
What exactly is it?
An incubator and a display of the excellent energies of local creativity and access to International artistic research. Above all, it is a tool for the experimentation of contemporary art as a way of understanding and interpreting better the moment we are living. A desire of Elena Matous Radici and Tullio Leggeri in memory of Fausto Radici, ALT is located in the space dedicated to this deceased champion, entrepreneur and collector in Alzano Lombardo, Bergamo. |
|
ALT is much more than just a showcase of an original collection. Thanks to the information and research which accompany the collection, it is a useful instrument for the territory in a philosophy of art which is neither exclusive nor elitist, as for its objective to make the society participate in the contemporary displays of artistic research. ALT is not a museum. It is an experimental space which seeks new approaches to involving the public. |

The exhibitions
The opening exhibition brings together a part of the collection of Tullio Leggeri and works by Elena Matous Radici and the Academy of Visionaries. The program continues showing more specific cross-sections of a collection of more than a thousand pieces. An example is the Optical and Programmed Art, with artworks by Castellani, Bonalumi, Scheggi and Alviani together with an isolated yet interesting figure like the Bergamo adopted Nino Calos; or the Milanese scene of the early nineties, which rejected the language of the Transavantgarde opening up new opportunities for artistic discoveries, such as the Scuola di via Lazzaro Palazzi and the other postconceptual trends which have been crossing culture in recent years. |
|
The production
Being so characteristic and particular, the space offers a setting for site specific productions. Young Italian and foreign artists are invited to create artworks ad hoc, residing for a certain period in the atelier built for this purpose in the complex. |
|
The market of the contemporary
Weekends bring openings and hospitality. Young artists and galleries can display their works in a contained space: a promotional display case where the public as well as collectors can see new propositions and have contact with the respective galleries for potential purchases. |
A stage for everybody
At the center of the two large rooms of the museum there is an empty space where performance, creative activities, conferences and banquets can take place. It can be booked by the public for an experience and not just an artistic one among the works of art. A wedding reception is usually held at the castle or an old villa. Why not hold it in an exhibition space? Or even add color to a conference or congress with some beautiful examples of art of our modernity? |
|
Territorial excellence
It was Fausto Radici’s idea to create a space for territorial excellence. From research to sport, from art to literature, music, theater and architecture, the Bergamo territory cultivates personalities of great national and international importance, which their traditional reserved nature tends not to reveal. In a contemporary system made up of contaminations which blends various disciplines, one can capture the artistic quality and excellence of the multiple forms of human expression.
ALT aims to bring together these qualities and present them to the national and international public. |
